Welcome to the MWA website for Manuel Ramos. Here you can find a bit of information about me and my books. I also encourage you to check out La Bloga - the literary blog I contribute to each week along with six other intrepid writers.
Manuel Ramos, an attorney who also has taught Chicano literature courses at Metropolitan State College of Denver, is the author of eight crime fiction novels. These novels have garnered critical and popular recognition such as the Colorado Book Award and the Chicano/Latino Literary Award (University of California at Irvine), as well as an Edgar nomination from the Mystery Writers of America. Five of the books feature Luis Montez, a Denver attorney who finds himself solving murders because of his clients, old friends, and even family members. The sixth book, Moony's Road to Hell, is a stand-alone, private eye novel. Ramos also has published several short stories. King of the Chicanos is a mainstream novel; while Desperado: A Mile High Noir (2013), is a return to novel-length crime fiction.

From his very humble beginnings through the tumultuous decades of being a migrant farm worker, door-to-door salesman, prison inmate, political hack, and radical activist, the novel relates Hidalgo’s personal failures and self-destructive personality amid the political turmoil of the times. |
