Author Bio

Bob Shayne has written 16 prime time network pilots, five TV movies and two mini-series, most of them mysteries. His first and only short story appeared in the recent MWA anthology Show Business Is Murder. He recently wrote two episodes of the internationally syndicated radio detective series The Adventures of Harry Nile. Changing genres, he's in the midst of writing a coffee table book on the history of romantic comedies movies entitled Hollywood, Love and Laughter.
He's produced and/or written numerous TV series (including Simon & Simon, Remington Steele, Magnum, Cover Up, Whiz Kids, P.S.I. Luv U, Staying Afloat), been nominated for two Edgar Awards by the Mystery Writers of America (for The Return of Sherlock Holmes and Simon & Simon), a Best TV Movie of the Year nomination from the Writers Guild of America (The Return of Sherlock Holmes), two Emmys, and a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album.

Bob is adjunct professor at the Chapman University film school and an instructor at the California Lutheran University Communications Department. He was formerly Visiting Professor at Syracuse University's Newhouse School TV-Film Division. He also taught screen and TV writing and film history courses at UCLA and NYU.
