Hi, y'all! I've covered crime for more than two decades, published five true crime books and my first mystery. I enjoy the writing. Hope you'll enjoy the reading. Drop in at www.kathryncasey.com, to learn more, and email me at kc@kathryncasey.com to let me know how you like the books!
Kathryn Casey is an award-winning, Houston-based author and journalist who has written more than 100 articles, many on crime and related issues, for Rolling Stone, Texas Monthly, TV Guide, Reader’s Digest, Town & Country, Seventeen, Savvy, MORE, and Ladies’ Home Journal magazines.
In addition, Casey is the author of highly acclaimed true crime books, all published by Avon/Morrow, a division of HarperCollins. The first, “The Rapist’s Wife” (1995) reissued in 2008 as "Evil Beside Her," tells the harrowing story of a Houston woman married to a dangerous sexual predator. “A Warrant to Kill” (2000), recounts the case of a homicidal deputy sheriff. While “She Wanted It All” (2005) explores Austin’s sensational Celeste Beard murder case. Released in April 2007, “Die, My Love,” details the strange case of Piper Rountree, a Houston attorney charged with gunning down her Richmond, VA, professor ex-husband, in an attempt to reclaim her children. Both “She Wanted It All” and “Die, My Love” were Literary Guild, Mystery Guild, and Doubleday Book Club selections.
Casey had two books released in 2008: A fifth true crime book, “A Descent into Hell,” on Austin’s infamous Colton Pitonyak case, and “Singularity,” her first novel. "Singularity" introduces a new mystery series. The main character is Texas Ranger Sarah Armstrong, an investigator and profiler, who travels the Lone Star State solving crimes.
Reviews of "Singularity" include:
"Lt. Sarah Armstrong balances the challenges of being the Texas Rangers' lone criminal profiler and a single mom in the riveting fiction debut from true-crime journalist Casey (A Descent into Hell).... Casey's solid research, smooth plotting and sensitive depiction of Sarah's relationship with her grieving daughter lift what could've been standard serial-killer fare into poignant, exciting family drama." Publisher's Weekly, a starred review, PW's highest designation!
"An impressive fiction debut for true crime author Casey (She Wanted It All, 2005), whose memorable heroine has brains, moxie, and heart. Happily for readers, this is the first in a series," wrote Allison Block for Booklist. (SINGULARITY was given a star, indicating it is "outstanding in its genre.")
"Casey is clearly talented and has the makings of a robust and long-lasting series character," the Baltimore Sun
"Not since Patricia Cornwell's 'Postmortem' has a crime author crafted such a stellar series debut. Kathryn Casey hits the right notes in her first novel, 'Singularity,' a thriller with an insider's insight into the minds of psychopaths...think of [Sarah] Armstrong as a blending of Alex Cross and Kay Scarpetta, a tough cookie balancing her new role as a widow. Casey finds sympathy and strength in the female Texas Ranger as she struggles with sexism and politics at the heart of this crime," the Tampa Tribune
Promoting her books, Casey has appeared on Oprah, Court TV, A&E, Nancy Grace, Montel, Leeza, and other television and radio shows. Perennial best-seller Ann Rule ranks Casey as “one of the best in the genre," and two-time Edgar Award-winner Carlton Stowers, author of “Careless Whispers,” says Casey is “among the elite."
